Wallackhaus
Hotel Wallackhaus in Heiligenblut offers accommodation at an altitude of 2304 m above sea level, in summer directly on the highest road in Austria, the Grossglockner Alpine Road, in winter directly on the ski slope. If you stay for more than two nights, you will receive two exclusive gifts from us. The Karnten Card, which gives you access to dozens of attractions and great discounts by more than 60 partners across Carinthia, plus unlimited access to the Grossglockner Alpine Road for the entire duration of your stay for €38.5. Normally the cost of a single entry would be €40.
There is a breath-taking view of Austria’s highest mountain Grossglockner. Due to the perfect accessibility, in addition to winter sports, you can also enjoy alpine hikes and walks in the surroundings, or you can ride a bike through the picturesque alpine landscape. The Czech staff will take care of your comfort in the hotel, so there are no language barriers.

Wellness
The hotel has a wellness centre with a Finnish, Turkish (steam) and infrared sauna. There is also a hot tub in the wellness area. You can cool down right outside in the snow in winter.
A relaxation zone with comfortable loungers and a divine view is ready for you.
Self-service bar
You can find a self-service corner at the beginning of the Grossglockner bar, where you can pour Pilsner, Erdinger or Stiegl beer yourself, choose quality wine from the wine cabinet, soft drinks and snacks from the fridges, or prepare lemonade from syrup and soda for free. You always mark what you have chosen on the tablet, load it onto the chip card and pay at the hotel reception upon departure. You also have the opportunity to make coffee or tea for free throughout the day.
Grossglockner bar
This is a classic bar with wait staff, located on the ground floor of the hotel, next to the main restaurant, which serves breakfast and dinner. The bar offers a beautiful view of the countryside and you can order something to drink or a small snack from the staff. The staff can speak Czech, English and German. You can find the drink list here.
Restaurant
The main room of the hotel is a large restaurant and a smaller lounge adjoining it. Upon arrival, you will get your own table, at which you will have breakfast and dinner during your stay. There is a large tiled stove in the room and a sitting area with a view of the mountains. You can use the smaller lounge in the case of a closed group.
Schlaftrunk saloon / Playroom
The fun at Wallackhaus definitely doesn’t end after 10 p.m. However, in order not to disturb other guests at night, just go to the night lounge in the basement, where you can have a party until the morning! Here you will find a ping-pong table, table football and board games.
Winter terrace
Outdoor terrace with seating and beautiful views. In summer it can be uncovered, in winter it protects against cold and wind. In winter, the terrace is also open to the public. There is an open bar and a buffet with a lunch menu, either self-service or with staff. In summer, the terrace is only for hotel guests and is unstaffed.
Hochtor lounge
For a quiet rest spent with a book or coffee, you will love the Hochtor lounge on the first floor with a beautiful view of the slopes, the tunnel from 1930 and the ancient Roman path of Römerweg.
SMOKING IS PROHIBITED in all areas of the hotel, except for the smoking room. The smoking room can be found next to the Grossglockner bar, or you can smoke in front of the hotel.

Board
Half board is included in the price of the stay. Breakfasts are served in the form of buffets, upon request, the staff will prepare breakfast dishes of fresh eggs or pancakes. During the day, soup is available for you, which you can have at lunchtime or after returning from skiing (11:00-17:00). The soup costs 2 € and please record the use of this service on the self-service screen. Dinners have four courses – soup, salad, main course and dessert. You choose the soup and the main course from the menu upon arrival. If you follow a specific diet, just let us know in advance and we will try to cater to all your requirements.
You can also pour your own Pilsner Urquell or Erdinger wheat beer, select quality wine from the wine cellar, or make your own lemonade with free syrup. An open winter terrace with service is available to you as well, offering a wide selection of alcohol and regional Stiegl beer on tap, which we definitely recommend trying.
Transport to the hotel
In summer it is possible to arrive by road and park for free at the hotel. The toll is €38.5 for a car and €28.50 for a motorbike. If you stay at the Wallackhaus for at least two nights, the toll is valid also for the following days (valid for all bookings made at least 72 hours before your arrival date so we can issue you a voucher).
Opening hours of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road: • Until May 31. : 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (last entry 7:15 p.m.), • June 1. - August 31. : 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (last entry 8:15 p.m.), • From 1. September: 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (last entry 6:45 p.m.) • From October 27, 2023, shortened opening hours will apply: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (last entry 4:15 p.m.)
Last entry 45 minutes before the night closure
In winter, you can park for free in the underground car park in the village of Heiligenblut. From there you take the cable car to Schareck, another cable car to Fallbichl and then to the Panoramabahn, where our staff on scooters will pick you up and take you and your luggage to the chalet. By the way, riding a scooter is a great experience.
Note: We do not provide covered parking for motorbikes/cars and we do not have an electric charging station.
Zima
Hotel Wallackhaus is located right in the middle of the Heiligenblut – Grossglockner ski resort. You can find a map of the cable cars here, (you can see Hotel Wallackhaus on the left in the middle).
Ski passes
We are happy to arrange a 5% discount on ski passes (for 3 days or longer). After you reserve your stay and pay the deposit, we will send you a discount voucher for the ski pass via email. Simply fill it out, present it directly at the cable car ticket office, and your discount will be applied.
In January and the second half of March, enjoy skiing from just €35 a day on 55 km of slopes.
Summer
For lovers of mountain hiking, Hotel Wallackhaus is a real paradise. Its outlying location offers plenty of opportunities for short walks and more difficult hikes. We will recommend you our favourite tips for trips. If you stay for at least 2 nights, you get a free Kärnten Card for the duration of your stay, which provides you with free cable cars, museums and hundreds of attractions in Carinthia.

Do you want cheaper accommodation? Take the opportunity to achieve up to a 30% discount for your stay (even more as part of special offers) in the periods of the beginning or end of the season. Children up to the age of 2 are free as long as they do no occupy a bed and no meals are provided to them (a cot can be requested for free). The tourist tax for the stay (all persons over 18 pay) is €2.35/night/adult. We require a 30% deposit for accommodation.

Absolutely stunning location high in the mountains. Completely Czech and very helpful staff, free coffee and soft drinks all day. Perfect food and prices cheaper than in the Czech Republic.
